Laura Bess Stidolph
Licensed Aesthetician & Owner of Vanity

One of Laura Bess’s earliest memories is watching her mother apply black cake eyeliner at her bathroom vanity mirror thus began a love affair with make-up, skin care, and all things beauty. After living in practically every city on the West Coast, she settled in San Francisco and started her career in the industry that held her heart. The way a person’s faces glows after a facial, the measured results a chemical peel offer and the instant gratification of waxing are just a few of the many things that make her love going to work every day at Vanity.

Laura Bess strives to offer her clients comfort, results, and education about their skin needs. After graduation from the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics & Cosmetology, a Paul Mitchell School, she immediately started to further her education by becoming a certified PCA Chemical Peel Specialist and enrolled at the International Dermal Institute for advanced education on skin health, histology & physiology. She is also a member of the Association of Skin Care Professionals.Understanding the science behind skin is just as important as the treatment itself and being able to give her clients answers as well as the properly formulated treatment are of the utmost importance. Traveling out of Alaska every few months for continuing education and certifications is a priority.

After working at The Cutlery, a five-star boutique salon in San Francisco as their sole esthetician, she made the decision to move home to Alaska to be closer to her family and the hometown she missed dearly. Vanity is inspired by all of the amazing art, salons, architecture, and boutiques that Laura Bess encountered in the cities she lived in and traveled to; giving Juneau a little taste of all of those places along with its own special Alaskan touches.
