Fraud Policy

How VanityXO prevents, detects and responds to fraud, chargeback abuse and misuse of numbers.

Last updated September 25, 2026

1. Purpose and scope

VanityXo LLC (“VanityXO”, “we”) is committed to protecting our customers, partners, payment providers and wireless carriers from fraudulent, deceptive and abusive activity. This policy is part of our Terms & Conditions and applies to everyone who uses VanityXO, including account owners, sub accounts and businesses (“Users”), and to every product and service we offer.

2. What counts as fraud or prohibited activity

“Fraud” means any deliberate act, omission, misrepresentation or scheme intended to deceive, to get around a requirement or safeguard, or to gain a benefit by dishonest or unlawful means. It includes, but isn’t limited to:

  • Giving false, misleading or incomplete information during sign-up, account review, checkout, payment or support.
  • Using stolen, unauthorized or improperly obtained payment methods.
  • Misrepresenting your identity, business, authority to use a payment method, or ownership of an account.
  • Disputing or charging back a valid transaction (“friendly fraud”), or threatening to.
  • Falsifying orders, screenshots, replacement or refund requests, or other records to obtain numbers, credit, refunds or other benefits.
  • Trying to gain unauthorized access to VanityXO accounts, systems, APIs or data, or to probe, scrape, reverse engineer or get around our security.
  • Selling, sharing or giving others access to VanityXO accounts or credentials outside of sub accounts.
  • Helping or knowingly enabling anyone else to do any of the above.

3. Carrier and promotional abuse

VanityXO numbers may not be used to deceive or abuse wireless carriers, retailers, dealers, device financing providers or their promotions. Prohibited activity includes:

  • “Phone farming” or similar schemes to obtain free, discounted, financed or subsidized devices through deception.
  • Activating, porting or creating lines mainly to obtain devices, promotional credits, rebates or commissions without a genuine intent to keep the required service.
  • Using VanityXO numbers to get around carrier eligibility rules, promotional limits, fraud controls or account limits.
  • Giving false or misleading information to a carrier, retailer or dealer to qualify for a promotion, port-in offer, device subsidy, financing, rebate or credit.
  • Misrepresenting the purpose, ownership, history or intended use of a number, account or line.
  • Organizing, supplying or helping anyone else do any of the above.

VanityXO provides numbers for legitimate business purposes. Buying a number doesn’t make you eligible for any carrier promotion, device offer, financing, rebate or incentive. You are responsible for following each carrier’s terms.

4. How we prevent fraud

  • Every new account is reviewed and approved before it can order.
  • Email and phone verification at sign-up.
  • Automated and manual screening of sign-ups, orders and payments.
  • Monitoring for unusual orders, purchase patterns, account activity and other risk signals.
  • Holds, order limits or extra verification for transactions or accounts that look risky.
  • Working with payment processors, banks, carriers and, where appropriate, authorities.

We may ask for identification, business verification, proof of payment authorization or other documents before approving an account, fulfilling an order or continuing to provide service.

5. Chargebacks and disputed payments

Please contact us at support@vanityxo.com about any order or billing problem before disputing a payment with your bank. Knowingly disputing a valid transaction is fraud. Accounts involved in chargeback abuse may be suspended or closed, pending orders canceled and future orders restricted, and we may recover the disputed amount, chargeback fees and related costs where the law allows.

6. Investigations

When we suspect fraud or misuse, we may review orders, payments, account activity, device and network information and logs; contact you for information; verify details with payment processors, carriers or other parties; and keep related records. While we investigate, we may:

  • Hold, delay or cancel orders.
  • Limit purchases or order amounts.
  • Suspend or restrict the account and its sub accounts.
  • Withhold delivery of numbers until verification is complete.

7. What happens if we find fraud

  • Immediate suspension or closure of the account and its sub accounts.
  • Cancellation of pending orders.
  • Removal of account credit or other benefits obtained through the prohibited activity, where the law allows.
  • Refusal of future business, including with related accounts. We may link accounts that share payment details, business information, devices or contact details.
  • Reporting to payment providers, carriers or authorities, and cooperating with lawful investigations.
  • Recovering losses, chargeback fees and costs, including through legal action.

8. Reporting fraud

If you suspect fraud or unauthorized activity involving VanityXO, email support@vanityxo.com with the order number, account email and a description of what happened. If you believe someone has your account password or a number’s PIN, tell us immediately.

9. Privacy

We collect, keep and share information for fraud prevention as described in our Privacy Policy and as the law allows.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
